❄️ COMPONENT-SPECIFIC PROTECTION & PERFORMANCE
Apron contact cold: Level 4. Standard 48 cm gloves: EN 511 3/2/1. These ratings apply to their respective components, not to the complete kit.
🏅 EU Type Certification & Component Documentation
This kit combines separate GERF® products. Component certifications, declarations and reference test results are not a separate certification of the complete ensemble.

✅ Standards by Component
- Apron: EN ISO 13688:2013+A1:2021; EN 388:2016+A1:2018; EN 511:2006, with the tests and results listed above.
- Vest and gaiters: their pages reference EN ISO 13688:2013+A1:2021, EN 388:2016+A1:2018 and EN 511:2006 using shared report 2026US0092. ISO 21420 is also referenced on those pages; it concerns protective gloves and is not presented here as independent vest or gaiter certification.
- Standard 48 cm gloves: EN 511, EN 388 and ISO 21420 — general requirements for protective gloves.
- Helmet faceshield, 90-CRYO-FSH: the component page states ANSI Z87.1+ and describes a Type I, Class E & G helmet. These are component-page declarations, not certification of the complete kit or its glasses.
- Safety glasses, 90-CRYO-LN: manufactured to comply with EN 166 and ANSI Z87.1 standards and applicable CE marking requirements. No independent certificate number or specific impact rating is claimed here.
🔬 Technical Overview
A coordinated GERF® PPE configuration for cryogenic liquid handling, combining upper-torso and shoulder coverage, a torso and abdomen apron, extended gloves, lower-leg and foot gaiters, and helmet-mounted face protection with safety glasses beneath the visor. Component pages describe cryogenic splash applications down to −196°C (−320°F); this application temperature does not establish a complete-kit certification, immersion capability or a common contact-cold rating.
⚙️ Construction & Materials
- Apron: blue woven outer fabric, laminated padding and lining, multi-layer insulation, double-sided waterproof barrier and reinforced nylon stitching.
- Vest and shoulder protector: multi-layer construction, double-sided waterproof barrier and leather shoulder reinforcement as described on its component page.

✅ Why GERF® for Cryogenic Risk?
- Coordinated components — complementary protection for multiple body zones.
- Documented component performance — apron test results and separate glove ratings, clearly distinguished.
- Dual-layer eye protection — safety glasses beneath the face shield add a second layer; this does not mean doubled tested performance.
- Practical storage — supplied with a GERF® carry bag for keeping equipment together between uses.
⚠️ Limitations / Out of Scope
- Not suitable for immersion or prolonged submersion in liquid nitrogen or other cryogenic liquids.
- Glasses must not be used as the sole protection when handling cryogenic liquids.
- This is a component kit, not a sealed, gas-tight or liquid-tight suit.
- Not intended as protection against pressurized cryogenic gas or vapor, or as respiratory protection.
- The vest does not provide full sleeve coverage. The included components do not establish complete coverage of every body area.
- Not a substitute for task-specific protection in high-volume spill environments.
- Follow each component's instructions. The apron page states that the PPE does not allow washing.
- Inspect before use and remove damaged components from service.
- Images are illustrative. The supplied configuration is the component list below; no separate jacket, trousers or boots are included.
🏭 Recommended Applications
- Cryogenic liquid dispensing and transfer, subject to task-specific risk assessment.
- Cryogenic tanker loading and unloading.
- Dewar handling and cryogenic system maintenance.
- LNG refueling and facility operations.
- Industrial gas, mining, oil and gas, and petrochemical operations.
